USU Directorate of Governance, Legal Affairs, and Archives Holds Internal Socialization on the Legal Documentation and Information Network

The Directorate of Governance, Legal Affairs, and Archives of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held an Internal Socialization on the Legal Documentation and Information Network (JDIH) on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at the Meeting Room of the USU Directorate of Governance, Legal Affairs, and Archives. The activity commenced at 10:00 a.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB) and continued until completion.

The internal socialization was held to enhance understanding and establish a shared perspective on the management of the Legal Documentation and Information Network within Universitas Sumatera Utara. The activity also formed part of the Directorate of Governance, Legal Affairs, and Archives’ efforts to improve the quality of the management, documentation, processing, and dissemination of legal products and information through JDIH USU.

During the activity, various aspects of JDIH management were discussed, particularly procedures for managing and presenting legal documents on the JDIH website, completing and adjusting document metadata, classifying types of legal documents, and providing legal information that is well-organized, complete, accurate, and easily accessible.

The socialization also emphasized the importance of consistency in entering legal data and documents, including the title, document number and year, form and type of document, date of enactment and effective date, document source, subject matter, validity status, language, location, initiator, and signatory. Accurate metadata is an important component in facilitating document searches and ensuring the quality of legal information provided through JDIH USU.

In addition to technical aspects of management, the activity served as an internal discussion forum to identify needs, challenges, and improvement measures in the development of JDIH USU. Through these discussions, a common understanding is expected to be established regarding the processes of inventorying, verifying, publishing, and updating legal documents and information.

The internal socialization was one of the steps taken to strengthen the governance of legal documentation and information at Universitas Sumatera Utara. With increasingly organized and integrated JDIH management, USU’s legal products and information are expected to be systematically documented and made more accessible, timely, and transparent to the academic community and the public.

The Directorate of Governance, Legal Affairs, and Archives will continue to develop and update JDIH USU as a platform for providing legal documentation and information, while supporting orderly administration and good university governance.
